毕业设计外文翻译 THERESEARCHSOF AMTSHIFTINGSCHEDULES Themodernautomatictransmissionisbyfar，themostcomplicatedmechanical componentintoday`sautomobile.Itisatypeoftransmissionthatsiftsitself. Afluidcouplingortorqueconverterisusedinsteadofamanuallyoperatedclutch toconnectthetransmissiontotheengine. Therearetwobasictypesofautomatictransmissionbasedonwhetherthe vehicleisrearwheeldriveorfrontwheeldrive.Onarearwheeldrivecar， thetransmissionisusuallymountedtothebackoftheengineandislocated underthehumpinthecenterofthefloorboardalongsidethegaspedalposition. Adriveshaftconnectsthetransmissiontothefinaldrivewhichislocatedin therearaxleandisusedtosendpowertotherearwheels.Powerflowonthis systemissimpleandstraightforwardgoingfromtheengine，throughthetorque converter，thentroughthetransmissionanddriveshaftuntilitreachesthe finaldrivewhereitissplitandsenttothetworeartransmission. Onafrontwheeldrivecar，thetransmissionisusuallycombinedwiththe finaldrivetoformwhatiscalledatransaxle.Theengineonafrontwheeldrive carisusuallymountedsidewaysinthecarwiththetransaxletuckedunderit onthesideoftheenginefacingtherearofthecar.Frontaxlesareconnected directlytothetransaxleandprovidepowertofrontwheels.Inthisexample， powerfloesfromtheengine，throughthetorqueconvertertoalargerchainthat sendsthepowerthrougha180degreeturntothetransmissionthatisalongside theengine.Fromthere，thepowerisroutedthroughthetransmissiontothefinal drivewhereitissplitandsenttothetwofrontwheelsthroughthedriveaxles. Thereareanumberofotherarrangementsincludingfrontdrivevehicleswhere theengineismountedfronttobackinsteadofsidewaysandthereareother systemsthatdriveallfourwheelsbutthetwosystemsdescribedhereareby farthemostpopular.Amuchlesspopularrearandisconnectedbyadriveshaft tothetorqueconverterwhichisstillmountedontheengine.Thissystemis foundonthenewCorvetteandisusedinordertobalancetheweightevenlybetween thefrontandrearwheelsforimprovedperformanceandhandling.Anotherrear drivesystemmountseverythingtheenginetransmissionandfinaldriveinthe rear.T
