Therearecertainconsiderationsorfactorsthateveryonetakesintoaccountinarelationship.
Peoplemaylookforhonesty,altruism,understanding,loyalty,beingthoughtfuletc!Everyonewouldmoreorlesswishthatthepersons/heisdealingwith,hassomeofthesevirtuesabove.Puttingtheminanorderaccordingtotheirimportance,howevercanbeverysubjectiveandrelative.
Whensomeoneaskshim/herselfthequestion“WhatdoIconsidertobethemostimportantthinginmyrelationship?”theanswerdependsonalotoffactorssuchashowhis/herearlierrelationshipswere.
Afterstatingthateveryone’sopinioncanbedifferentaboutthis,formehonesty,inotherwords,alwaystellingthetruthisthemostimportantconsiderationinarelationship.Oppositeofthisisinarguablylyingandifsomeoneneedstolie,eithers/heishidingsomethingorisafraidoftellingmesomething.
Inanyrelationshipofmine,Iwouldwishthatfirstofall,thepersonI’mdealingwithishonest.Eventhoughs/hethinksthats/hedidsomethingwrongthatIwouldn’tlike,s/he’dbettertellmethetruthandnotlieaboutit.LateronifIfindoutaboutalieorhearthetruthfromsomeoneelse,that’dbemuchmoreunpleasant.InthatcasehowcanIeverbelieveortrustthatpersonagain?HowcanIeverbelievethatthispersonhasenoughconfidenceinmetoforgivehim/herandcarryonwiththerelationshipfromthere.SoifIcannottrustapersonanymore,ifthepersondoesn’tthinkIcanhandlethetruth,there’snopointtocontinuingthatrelationship.
AlthoughIwouldliketoseealtruistic,understanding,thoughtfulandloyalbehaviorfrompeople,aninstanceoftheoppositeofthesebehaviorswouldnotupsetmeasmuchasdishonestywould.Amongallthepossiblebehaviors,dishonestyistheonlyoneformethatterminateshowIfeelaboutaperson’sreliability.Thereforehonestywouldbemyfirstconcernandthemostimportantconsiderationinarelationship.
