ResearchandSimulationofTransportProtocolsOptimizationonWirelessMulti-HopNetworksWeifengSun,HaotianWang,MingchuLi,MengciZhou,ZhenquanQin*SchoolofSoftware,DalianUniversityofTechnology,Dalian116621wfsun@dlut.edu.cn,wanghaotian@mail.dlut.edu.cn,li_mingchu@yahoo.com,zhoumengci@gmail.com,qzq@dlut.edu.cnAbstract—Itwillencounterproblemswhentraditionaltransportdevelopmentofnetworkschemeandprotocols.NS-2isaprotocolsareappliedinwirelessmulti-hopnetworks(WMNs).discreteeventandobject-orientedsimulator.ItsupportsStreamControlTransmissionProtocol(SCTP)hasthepotentialsimulationofwirelessmulti-hopnetworksandhasgoodtobeanalternativetransportprotocolthatmaybeabletobetterexpansionability,andithasbeenappliedwidelybyacademiasatisfytherequirementsofWMNsthantraditionalprotocols,andeducation[3].TCPandUDP.Inthispaper,weanalyzeandsimulatetheimpactofsomefactorsontheperformanceoftransportprotocolsonTherestofthispaperisorganizedasfollows:SectionⅡWMNs.(e.g.,hops,CWmin,packetsizeandmaximumwindowofintroducesanoverviewofrelatedworkaboutthispaper.TheTCP,chunksizeofSCTP).Moreover,viaextensivesimulationsofoptimizationmethodsofthispaperaredescribedinSectionⅢ.fourtransportprotocols(TCP,SCTP,UDPandDCCP)inSectionⅣgivestheconfigurationsofthesimulation,whichcompetitionscenarios,weanalyzetherelationshipbetweenmainlyincludescenario,settingsofrelatedparametersandnetworkperformance(e.g.,throughput)andnetworkfactors.Andweproposeoptimizationmethodswithpropervaluesofevaluationmetricsofthenetworkperformance.Weanalyzethefactors.TheresultsofsimulationsalsocanbeusedastheresultsinSectionⅤandSectionⅥ.Finally,SectionⅦfoundationoffurtherstudiesontransportprotocolsonWMNs.summarizesthepaperandourfuturework.Keywords-wirelessmulti-hopnetworks;TCP;SCTP;NS2II.RELATEDWORKTheanalysisandoptimizationoftransportprotocolI.INTRODUCTIONperformanceonWMNshavereceivednumerousresearchers’TheStreamControlTransmissionProtocol(SCTP)[1]attentionsinpreviousresearch[4,5,6].In[4],TCPandUDPprovidesconnection-oriented,reliableend-to-endtransmission.
