IntraditionalLEDarraydesign,thenumber,position,andcurrentofLEDsareusuallydeterminedbasedonexperienceortrialanderror.Thisdesignmethodistime-consuming,inefficient,andunreliable.Inrecentyears,manyoptimizationalgorithmshavebeenproposedforLEDarraydesigntoachievethebestilluminationuniformity. Theparticleswarmoptimization(PSO)algorithmisaglobaloptimizationalgorithmbasedontheswarmtheory.Ithasbeensuccessfullyappliedinmanyoptimizationproblemsduetoitssimplicity,efficiency,andsuitabilityforproblemswithcomplexsearchspaces.ThePSOalgorithmhasbeenusedinmanyLEDarraydesignproblemstooptimizethenumber,position,andcurrentofLEDs. Inthispaper,weproposeanLEDarraydesignmethodbasedonthePSOalgorithmtoachieveoptimalilluminationuniformity.Theproposedmethodcanoptimizethenumber,position,andcurrentofLEDstoachievethebestilluminationuniformity.Theremainderofthispaperisorganizedasfollows:Section2describestheproposedLEDarraydesignmethod.Section3pr
